NORTHFIELD, Vt.- The Norwich Softball team hosted the penultimate Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader against Rivier Thursday afternoon.
Out of the gate in game one, the Raiders jumped ahead and took home a decisive shutout victory. Despite the defeat in the opener
Madison DeCota (Strafford, N.H.) went a perfect three for three. Even though the Raiders scored a run early in game two, the Cadets responded immediately. DeCota led things off with a double to left. A second double by
Gianna Missiti (Bedford, Mass.) brought Decota home to tie the game. Three batters later,
Taylor Farnsworth (Saint Johnsbury, Vt.) would bring home Missiti with another double before crossing the plate herself on an RBI single by
Courtney Thomas (Strafford, N.H.) to cap off a three-run first.
Later in the game, Rivier would regain the lead and not look back. Norwich scored a run each in the fifth, sixth and seventh closing the deficit. DeCota, Missiti, and
Brianna Vitale (Rock Tavern, N.Y.) all tallied multi hit games. The Cadets will round out their schedule by hosting Anna Maria Sunday afternoon for Senior Day at 12 PM.
