BOSTON, Mass. - The Norwich University women's cross country team concluded the 2024 regular season by participating in the 34th annual Mayor's Cup, hosted at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass., on Sunday morning.
The race was an All Comers 5K, with participants of all ages and genders allowed to compete. Both the Norwich men's and women's cross country teams ran alongside each other.
Delaney Whitmarsh (North Yarmouth, Maine) paced the Cadets, running a 21:37 to finish 56th overall and third among women.
Cece Winters (Waco, Texas) and
Shannon Driscoll (Wakefield, Mass.) crossed the line shortly after, checking in at 63rd and 69th on 22:51 and 24:08 efforts, respectively.
Wendy Cantor Hernandez (Dobson, N.C.) and
Alexandra Velez (Gainesville, Va.) finished back-to-back in 80th and 81st, while
Jasmyn Jackson (Fort Drum, N.Y.) rounded out Norwich's morning in 85th.
WOMEN'S LEADERS:
The Cadets will now look ahead to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, which will be hosted by Norwich University on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Norwich's Cross Country Course. The start time for the 6K race is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. A preview and more information will be available throughout the week.
