BOSTON, Mass. - The Norwich University men's cross country team put on a strong display at the 34th annual Mayor's Cup in Boston, Mass., as five Cadets crossed the line within the top 15 on Sunday morning.
The race was an All Comers 5K, with participants of all ages and genders allowed to compete. Both the Norwich men's and women's cross country teams ran alongside each other.
Matheu Dettenrieder (Tribes Hill, N.Y.) and
Seth Varin (Danielson, Conn.) were at the forefront of Norwich's race, finishing sixth and seventh on 17:28 and 17:34 times, respectively.Â
Judson Nash (Hampden, Maine) also cracked the top 10, clocking in at 17:50 for ninth place.
Jacob Reed (Thompson, Conn.) and
Landon Pandolph (Peru, N.Y.) followed soon thereafter, concluding the race with identical 18:14 efforts to end in 13th and 14th, respectively.
Leo Circosta (Greensboro, Vt.) and
Chance Boulware (Martinsburg, W.Va.) rounded out the Cadet finishers in the top 20, posting 17th- and 19th-place finishes on 18:38 and 18:47 times.
MEN'S LEADERS:
The Cadets will now look ahead to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, which will be hosted by Norwich University on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Norwich's Cross Country Course. The start time for the 8K race is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. A preview and more information will be available throughout the week.
