NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The entire Norwich University Strength and Conditioning approach has gone through a dramatic shift since the additions Coach Scott Caulfield, Director of Strength and Conditioning, and Coach Maki Shuchuk, Assistant Strength and Conditioning.  The past two years of All-American awards are further proof of the positive direction in which the entire program is moving.  The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) recently announced 11 Norwich student-athletes have been honored with a 2023 All-American Athlete Award.  These student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding accomplishments and dedication to strength and conditioning. 

"We are excited to recognize this year's NSCA All-Americans and another year of hard work and dedication in the weight room," said Coach Caulfield. "This acknowledgment is personally special to both Coach Shuchuk and me.  The NSCA is helping to celebrate those athletes who have distinguished themselves through their commitment to improving off the field / court, improving their leadership in the weight room with their respective teams, and a commitment to our Norwich University strength and conditioning program."  Each member of this year's All-American group was personally nominated by Coach Caulfield and Coach Shuchuk.

Rashawn Fraser (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), Men's Rugby
Michaila Furchak (Nyack, N.Y.), Women's Lacrosse
Callum Jones (Burlington, Ontario), Men's Hockey / Men's Lacrosse

"Being a student-athlete is a unique experience that requires a significant amount of dedication, hard work, and commitment inside and outside of the weight room," explained Coach Shuchuk.  "Each one of these athletes have led by example amongst their teammates and demonstrated the commitment level necessary to be an NSCA All-American.  Coach Caulfield and I are extremely proud and grateful to have coached such incredible student-athletes."  As a member of the Norwich University 2017-18 National Championship Women's Hockey team, Coach Shuchuk is uniquely qualified to know exactly what it takes to be ultimately successful in the Maroon and Gold.
