CASTINE, Maine - The Norwich University men's and women's swimming & diving teams opened up their weekend in Maine with dominance, sweeping Maine Maritime Academy at the Cary W. Bok Swimming Pool on Saturday afternoon.
The Norwich women claimed victory in emphatic fashion, 187-109, while the Cadet men coasted to a 193-98 win over the Mariners. The Cadets topped MMA in 27 of 32 events, while setting new pool records in a whopping 10 events.
"We had a terrific meet where everyone was all in," said Head Coach
Jennifer Cournoyer. "Both teams came out with a win, and it is exciting when the whole team was behind it. How we finished races really mattered today and the effort was there. Now it is all about rest and recovery for a big meet tomorrow at Husson!"
The Cadets were locked in from the start, opening with back-to-back wins in the 200 medley relay before coasting to four-straight individual victories. Norwich never lost the momentum despite three MMA wins scattered throughout the meet,Â
