Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's lacrosse team saw their season come to a close on Commencement and Commissioning Saturday, as the Cadets fell in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament Quarterfinals, on The Hill.
On the offensive end Michaila Furchak (Nyack, N.Y.) led the way with three points on a pair of goals and an assist. Quinn Mustone (Medford, Mass.) had two goals and Leocadia Clark (Stowe, Vt.), Bianca Klepper (Upperville, Va.), and Valentina Drown (Acton, Maine) each had a goal each.
Reiley Anderson (Denville, N.J.) had four caused turnovers, while Julia Proto (Orange, Conn.) had three and Celine Juneau (Chazy, N.Y.), Molly Flanagan (Lutz, Fla.), and Furchak each had two in the contest. Jasmin Contreras (Glendale, Calif.) had five draw controls while Emma O'Neill (Hamburg, N.Y.) had four draw controls with three ground balls. In net Katie Bishop-Manning (New York, N.Y.) closed her career with nine saves and four ground balls.
Emmanuel scored first after Deja Srimousksavanh 4:30 into the game and Klepper responded 41 seconds later with a goal off of a free position. The Saints Chandra Franca scored with 2:13 remaining in the opening frame and Srimousksavanh scored with 34 seconds remaining. Drown closed out the frame with a goal with 17 seconds on the clock.
The Saints scored three straight goals to start the second quarter, but Clark scored with 5:05 left in the second quarter, going into the halftime break trailing, 6-3.
Emmanuel struck again early in the third before the Cadets rattled off four straight goals to pull within one with 13:35. The Saints then closed out the contest with three straight goals, closing out the game.
Norwich (12-5, 10-3 GNAC) closes out their season with the best record since 2012 when the Cadets went 14-2 overall and undefeated in conference play.
