Women's Lacrosse: Cadets Fall at Conference Leading Johnson & Wales

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Norwich University women's lacrosse team fell in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest on Saturday at Johnson & Wales, 20-1.

After the Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening 3:41 of play, Norwich's defense was able to withstand the pressure from Johnson & Wales as until the Wildcats broke through with 5:58 remaining in the first quarter.

The Wildcats led 12-0 in the second quarter before Jasmine Contreras put the Cadets on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal with 2:56 remaining in the first half.  The Cadets trailed 13-1 at the half.

Norwich's defense tightened up in the second half able to withstand the high-powered offense of the Wildcats to seven points.

Norwich (2-2, 1-1 GNAC) will prepare to host Rivier on Tuesday, Mar. 22, they will then play NVU-Lyndon on Thursday, Mar. 24 in a 4 pm tilt. Norwich will close out three straight home games against Albertus Magnus on Saturday, Mar. 26 at 4 pm on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium.
