Box Score STANDISH, Maine - The Norwich University women's lacrosse team traveled north on Saturday afternoon to take on the Monks of Saint Joseph's College of Maine in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, dropping the conference matchup by a 20-10 final score.
The Monks jumped all over the Cadets early, opening up a 6-0 lead within the first 15 minutes of game time. Norwich rallied to outscore Saint Joseph's 5-2 for the remainder of the half and entered the break trailing 8-5.
In the second half, the Monks put on an offensive show, outscoring the Cadets by a 12-5 margin to run away with the 20-10 victory.
Olivia Bloom (Annapolis, Md.) and Kathryn Albretsen (Cotuit, Mass.) provided the brunt of the offense for Norwich, scoring five and four goals respectively. Senior Meaghan McGrath (Barre, Vt.) provided the other goal for NU.
With the loss, Norwich drops their overall record to 4-4 on the season and a 3-2 record within the GNAC. Next up for the Cadets is a non-conference matchup with Lyndon State College at home on Monday, April 9 at 4:00 PM.
