PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Norwich University wrestling team traveled down to Johnson & Wales University on Sunday afternoon to compete in a quad meet featuring the hosting Wildcats, the Coast Guard Academy, and the University of Southern Maine.
Norwich sent eight different student-athletes to the mat across their three matchups on the afternoon but ultimately came away with losses to JWU (53-0), Coast Guard (50-0), and Southern Maine (56-0).
Ranked fourth in the country heading into the match, the Johnson & Wales Wildcats put on a truly dominating performance, defeating Norwich 53-0 before defeating the Huskies of USM 38-9 and demolishing the #20 ranked Coast Guard Academy by a 43-0 score.
The Cadets will look to get some positive momentum going later this week, as they host their first home meet of the year on January 17th and welcome the Springfield College Pride to Northfield. Last time the two programs met the Cadets fell 34-12 to the then ranked #12 Pride, a loss the Cadets will look to avenge this Thursday night starting at 7:00 PM.
