Women's Lacrosse: Cadets Defeated by Lasell, 16-1

Box Score

NEWTON, Mass. – The Norwich University women's lacrosse team was toppled by the host Lasers of Lasell College on Wednesday, 16-1.

The Cadets even their record at 5-5 and fall to 1-3 against Great Northeast Athletic Conference foes. Lasell moves to 7-4 on the year and to 4-1 against league opponents. The reigning GNAC Champions, the Lasers have won four-straight games over the Cadets since Apr. 1, 2015.

Junior Teresa Segreti (Salisbury Mills, N.Y.) scored her team's lone goal on the afternoon. Down by a 10-0 margin only minutes into the second half, Segreti's unassisted strike briefly slowed the Lasell momentum, but six-straight goals by the Lasers prevented any attempt of a Cadets comeback.

Vanessa Pino and Taylor Yandow combined for 11 goals and four assists for Lasell, who outshot Norwich by a 27-to-18 margin. The Lasers also collected 20 of the game's 36 ground balls and converted four of their six free-position attempts. Lasell also held Norwich to one goal for only the fourth time in program history.

Freshman Lawson Hayes (Moorestown, N.J.) made six saves on the day, drawing the loss for Norwich. Bridget Delaney and Brooke Bergeron yielded only one goal on 15 shots for Lasell.

The Cadets head to Saint Joseph (Conn.) this Saturday, Apr. 15 for a 1 p.m. contest. Norwich is without a loss against the Blue Jays all-time (10-0), having outscored Saint Joseph by a 166-to-47 margin since the first meeting on Apr. 19, 2007.
