PORTLAND, MAINE – Junior Chapel Guarnieri (Pepperell, Mass.) recorded her 100th career point after scoring a hat trick as the Norwich University women's lacrosse team ended its season to Saint Joseph's College of Maine by a score of 18-6 in the quarterfinal round of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) tournament Tuesday evening.

Freshman Kathryn Albretsen (Cotuit, Mass.), senior Larissa Gokey (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) and junior Holly Lutz (Hamburg, N.J.) each netted a goal for the Cadets, while freshman goalie Janice Bolton (Stow, Mass.) turned away eight of the 26 shots on goal.

Leading the way for the Monks were senior Elizabeth Elcock (Westwood, Mass.) junior Jackie Wilson (Tiverton, R.I.) and sophomore Elyse Caiazzo (Scarborough, Maine) with four goals apiece. Senior Kat Gadbois (Scarborough, Maine) and junior Kelsey Dumond (Lewiston, Maine) both collected hat trick to round out Saint Joseph's scoring. Senior goalie Michelle Cunha (Enfield, Conn.) came up with four saves on 10 shots in between the pipes.

Saint Joseph's scored three unanswered goals in the first seven minutes of the opening draw before Lutz scored Norwich's first goal on a free position shot. The Monks extended their lead to eight after adding putting in six straight goals until Guarnieri scored the Cadets' second goal on the free position attempt, only to watch Saint Joseph score four straight for the 13-2 advantage at the break.

Gokey scored unassisted just two minutes into the opening draw to make it a 10-point game but the Monks' lead swelled to 13 for the 16-3 lead. Guarnieri would record her 100th career goal at the 10:40 mark before putting in her third goal of the night six minutes later. Albretsen would close out the evening with a goal as the Cadets saw the 2016 season come to a close in the 18-6 defeat.
