Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Freshman Kathryn Albretsen (Cotuit, Mass.) scored a sock trick and an assist for seven points as the Norwich University women's lacrosse team rolled over Albertus Magnus College, 20-3, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Sabine Field on Saturday afternoon.
Norwich improves to 2-4 in the league and 5-6 overall, while Albertus Magnus drops to 0-6 in the GNAC and 1-9 on the year.
Junior Chapel Guarnieri (Pepperell, Mass.) contributed four points on three goals and an assist with freshman Janae Somero (St. Albans, Vt.) picking up three points on a pair of goals and an assist. Sophomore Teresa Segreti (Salisbury Mills, N.Y.) also pitched in three points (2g, 1a) along with seniors Katie Quebec (Nashua, N.H.) and Caroline Manning (Duxbury, Mass) recording their first goal of the season along with classmate Larissa Gokey (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) putting in two into the back of the net.
Albertus Magnus wasted no time getting its first point on the board as senior Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) scored the first goal of the game off of the free position shot. The Cadets responded by scoring nine-straight in just under six minutes to take the 9-1 lead with 21:39 remaining in the half.
The Falcons would record their second goal off of Jassil's free position shot, but Norwich remained hot in the remaining minutes, putting in five more shots into the back of the net for the 14-2 halftime score.
Norwich opened the second half with four unanswered goals before the Falcons notched its third goal from freshman Aida Sarr (Bronx, N.Y.) at the 9:21 mark. The Cadets would wrap up the contest with back-to-back goals from Lortie and Segreti for the 20-3 victory.
Freshman goalie Janice Bolton (Stow, Mass.) picked up her fifth win of the season after turning away two shots before teammate Danielle Boucher (South Burlington, Vt.) filled in between the pipes in the second half, collecting four saves on the day. Albertus Magnus' Lexie Fenn (Oakville, Conn.) came up with 11 saves on 31 shots for the loss.
Prior to the contest, Quebec, Manning and Gokey were recognized on Senior Day for their commitment and dedication to the program during their four year career at Norwich.
Norwich is back in action on Sunday, April 17 at Colby-Sawyer for the 3:30 p.m. non-conference matchup.
