Box Score AUBURNDALE, Mass. – Senior attacker Gina Conroy (Amherst, N.H.) netted two goals as the Norwich University women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-5 decision to Lasell College at Grellier Field in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play Wednesday afternoon.
Senior midfielder Hope Royce (Washington, Vt.), Larissa Gokey (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) , and Teresa Segreti (Salisbury Mills, N.Y.) each scored a goal for the Cadets with Segreti and Kirstin Lortie (Winchendon, Mass.) each pulling down two draw controls.
Lasell (5-4, 4-1 GNAC) would open the contest scoring eight straight goals before a free position goal by Gokey put Norwich on the board with 29 seconds remaining in the first half. The Cadets would put the ball in the back of the net early in the second frame from Segreti before Lasell added six additional goals in a span of seven minutes for the 14-2 lead.
Conroy would score her first goal of the game at the 16:04 mark to snap the Cadets' scoring drought before Norwich was carded twice with a yellow. The Lasers would score two goals during the yellow card before adding a third goal less than two minutes later for the 17-3 score. Royce would convert the Cadets' second free position shot into a goal before Conroy tallied her second goal and Norwich's last goal of the game before Lasell sealed the victory with a final goal for the 18-5 score.
Junior goalkeeper Courtney Hudson (Burke, Va.) played all 60 minutes in between the pipes and posted a career-high 18 saves for Norwich. Sophomore defender Meghan Albert (Lanesborough, Mass.) forced two caused turnovers with a ground ball and a draw control.
Lasell would have a strong advantage on ground balls, scooping up 24 to Norwich's 11, and forced 10 of the 20 Cadets' turnovers with Norwich clearing the ball 3-of-14 attempts.
Norwich drops to 2-3 (1-3 GNAC) and will play outside of the conference on Friday when they host in-state rivals Castleton at 5:00 p.m.
