Box Score BOSTON—Norwich senior midfielder Grace Fitzpatrick (Falmouth, Maine) has been named this week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.
It marks the second time this season that Fitzpatrick has earned the weekly honor. She was also awarded the honor on April 7, 2014.
Fitzpatrick totaled 15 points on 13 goals and two assists in a 1-1 week for Norwich. She scored six goals and dished out an assist against Emmanuel on Tuesday, and followed that up with an even stronger seven-goal, one-assist performance in the Cadets' 18-4 win against Johnson & Wales. In addition, Fitzpatrick finished the week with team-highs in ground balls and caused turnovers with nine of each.
The senior midfielder has had an excellent season for the Cadets. Over the course of the team's 11 games, Fitzpatrick has totaled team-highs in goals (36), assists (six), points (42), ground balls (46), draw controls (33), and caused turnovers (34). She leads the GNAC and ranks 10th in all of Division III in caused turnovers per game with 3.04.
Fitzpatrick has netted 195 career goals, and enters the 2014 GNAC postseason just five goals shy from becoming the second 200-goal scorer in Norwich program history. She is also 14 goals away from besting the program record of 208 goals, set by Kacey Abbriano '12.
The third-seeded Cadets will host No. 6 Simmons College on Tuesday evening in the GNAC Quarterfinals. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the winner will advance to Thursday's semifinal game against the winner of the No. 2 Saint Joseph's (ME)/No. 7 Johnson & Wales game.
