Women's Lacrosse: Camlin Aids Cadets to 19-4 win against AMCATS

PAXTON, Mass.—Freshman attacker Chandler Camlin (Stamford, Conn.) exploded for a career-best four goals and four assists to lead the Norwich University women's lacrosse team to a 19-4 win against the AMCATS of Anna Maria College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action on Monday afternoon. 

With the win, the Cadets improve to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in GNAC action, while the loss drops the AMCATS to 0-10 overall and 0-6 in league play.

In addition to Camlin's eight points, the Cadets also saw a strong offensive performance from Grace Fitzpatrick (Falmouth, Maine) who contributed five goals and an assist.  Emma Smith (Patterson, N.Y.) added three goals for the Cadets, while Hope Royce (Washington, Vt.) netted two goals and dished out an assist. Meghan Grenier (Voluntown, Conn.) and Gina Conroy (Amherst, N.H.) both contributed a goal and an assist.

Anna Maria received two goals from Sandy Acosta and a goal each from Kylie Dalbec and Emily Adriaansen.

Camlin and Smith combined to give the cadets an early 2-0 lead before Anna Maria's Andraansen put the AMCATS on the board with 19:26 to play in the half.  Norwich tallied two more goals to Anna Maria's one in the next fourteen minutes, and the Cadets wrapped up the first half with six unanswered goals in a span of 5:43 to take the 10-2 lead at halftime.

Acosta opened the second half with a goal at the 28:33 mark, but the Cadets responded with five-straight goals to claim the 15-3 lead with 17 minutes left to play.  Anna Maria's Dalbec netted a goal with 16:39 on the clock before Norwich finished the game with a 4-0 run.

Norwich goaltender Cheyenne Mata-Notel (East Hampton, N.Y.) recorded eight saves in the win for Norwich.  AMCATS netminder Shannon Donovan also recorded eight saves as the Cadets posted a 27-12 shots-on-goal advantage and a 40-17 advantage in total shots.

Ftizpatrick led the Cadets in draw controls with five. Smith and Fitzpatrick both recorded a game-high five ground balls.

The Cadets return to action on Wednesday as they host Simmons College in a 4:00 p.m. GNAC matchup at Howard Field.
