Northfield, Vt.—The Norwich University swimming and diving team dropped its second meet in as many days, falling to visiting Bates College Saturday at Goodyear Pool.
The men fell by a score of 225-74 while the Cadet women picked up 24 points in another competitive effort.
The Cadets were unable to gain any momentum and did not register an individual victory on the day. However, Norwich did finish 2-3 in the men's 100 yard backstroke courtesy of junior Patrick Bowden (Cumberland, Maine) and senior Chris Hevey .
The Cadets also got a strong second-place effort in the men's 200 yard medley relay behind the team of sophomore Lance Webster (Windham, Maine), Bowden, Brandon Kelly (Centreville, Md.) and Travis Marks (Grass Valley, Calif).
On the women's side, Norwich got solid performances from both Stephanie Ulrich (Dillsburg, Pa.) and junior Sarah Patrie (Lewiston, Maine) in the 50 yard backstroke. Ulrich finished in 40.50 and Patrie hit the wall in 40.84.
In the 100 yard freestyle, Norwich went 3-4-5 behind Giovanna Stein (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Kelsey Baker (Austin, Texas) and Jenny Ward (Brewster, N.Y.).
The Cadets will be back in action when they host Babson next Saturday at 1 p.m.
