Northfield--- The Norwich University men's swimming and diving team bested St. Michael's College, 155-141 on Tuesday at Goodyear Pool in one last tuneup before the NEISDA Championships that began Feb. 8.

The Cadet men started off the meet on the right foot, winning the event's second race: the 200 yard medley relay. The Cadet's "A" relay team of sophomore Lance Webster (Windham, Maine), freshman Travis Marks (Grass Valley, Calif.), junior Patrick Bowden (Cumberland, Maine) and sophomore Patrick Ogden (Madison, Ala.) hit the wall in 147:53 en route to the victory.

Bowden, on the heels of four victories at Elms College on Saturday, picked up four more today with the relay and wins in the 100 yard butterfly, 100 yard freestyle and 200 yard individual medley.

Webster chipped in with a win in the 100 yard backstroke and a pair of second-place finishes in the 500 and 1000 yard freestyles.

Marks added a victory for the Cadets in the 100 yard breaststroke to continue his late-season charge.

The Norwich men also excelled on the diving board with Matt Kaye (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.), Will Harris (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Stephen Resto (Montgomery, N.Y.) taking 1-2-3 at the one-meter level. Kaye and Resto also finished 1-2 in the meet's second diving event.

The Cadet women fell, 159-51, but got a victory from Justina George (Wallingford, Conn.) on the diving board and saw a solid performance from Sarah Patrie (Lewiston, Maine), who won the 50 yard butterfly in 36.47.

Giovanna Stein (Sao Paulo, Brazil) also finished second in the 100 yard freestyle.

The Cadets will be off until the NEISDA Championships. The diving championships begin Feb. 15.
