Box Score NASHUA, N.H. – It was open season on Raiders Field as the Norwich Cadets took down the Hawks 21-7 on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Grace Fitzpatrick and junior captain Kacey Abbriano tallied six goals apiece, while freshman Courtney Saheim put in four goals in another strong Cadet win.
Juniors Danielle Del Dotto and Suzanne Whitaker each netted two goals, as classmate Mollie Fitzpatrick found the back of the net on one occasion. Grace recorded the lone Cadet assist and senior goaltender Kellie Pickel made 12 saves in the action.
The score read 13-4 at halftime with Norwich outshooting their opponent 24-10 in the first two periods. The Raiders, however, outworked the Cadets for the ground balls, collecting 19 of the 26 throughout the game.
Pickel made four saves in the first 30 minutes of play and doubled that action in the second half by setting aside eight of the Raiders' attempts on net.
Rivier was on the board early in the conference matchup, taking the lead a minute and a half into action. It was to be their only advantage, however, as Norwich settled the score less than a minute later on Grace Fitzpatrick's first goal of the afternoon.
Abbriano found the back of the net to give Norwich the edge just two minutes into play, earning the lead the team would continue to stretch over the duration of the game.
