THE OFFICIAL SITE OF NORWICH UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS

Howard Field

Howard Field, historically the cornerstone for both the men's and women's soccer and lacrosse programs, is strategically situated adjacent to Sabine Field and in close proximity to Shapiro Fieldhouse.

This venue, which now primarily serves as a dedicated practice space for various athletic teams, is renowned for its distinctive architectural features.  Among these, the wooden bleachers, ingeniously constructed into the natural slope of a hill, offer spectators a unique vantage point overlooking the field.  Adding to the venue's charm is a meticulously crafted rock wall, which not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of Howard Field but also provides fans with an opportunity to experience the thrill of the game from an incredibly close perspective.

Howard Field is not just known for its distinctive features, but also for its rich history of athletic excellence.  It has been the battleground for numerous memorable moments, including the capturing of prestigious titles.  Notably, it witnessed the triumphant victory of the 2012 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship and the 2013 GNAC Men's Lacrosse Championship.  These significant achievements underscore Howard Field's legacy as a site of competitive spirit and sporting achievement.

The venue continues to be a vital component of the athletic community, symbolizing both the tradition and the ongoing pursuit of excellence in collegiate sports.
