THE OFFICIAL SITE OF NORWICH UNIVERSITY ATHLETICS

Garrity Field

Garrity Field, completed in 1963, serves as the esteemed home field for the baseball team.  This iconic field bears the name of Joseph Garrity, a distinguished alumnus from the class of 1927.  Joseph Garrity is celebrated for his significant contributions as a former baseball coach and a dedicated athletic director for many years, leaving a lasting legacy on the institution's athletic programs.

The field itself boasts a prime location at the southwest corner of what used to be the historic Polo Field, a site rich in the school's sporting history.  This choice of location not only honors the site's history but also ensures that Garrity Field is at the heart of the school's athletic facilities, making it a central hub for baseball activities.

In addition to its historical significance, the field's design and layout are meticulously planned to provide an optimal playing experience for athletes.  The proximity to the remainder of the Polo Field, now repurposed as football practice fields, underscores the interconnections of the school's athletic facilities.  This strategic use of space exemplifies how the school honors its past while adapting to the evolving needs of its current and future athletes.

Overall, Garrity Field is a testament to the school's rich athletic tradition and commitment to excellence in sports, honoring a beloved figure in its sports history while serving as a state-of-the-art facility for generations of athletes to excel and create their own legacies.
