Baroffio's Rifle Range

Baroffio's Rifle Range, situated in Northfield, serves as the prestigious training ground for the rifle team of Norwich University, especially since the revival of the team as a varsity program in 2022.

The construction of this facility came to fruition in the early 1990s, thanks to the visionary efforts of Jack and Bruce Baroffio.  Designed with precision and functionality in mind, the rifle range boasts advanced facilities that accommodate both smallbore and air rifle competitions, meeting and exceeding the standards for collegiate level shooting sports.

The history of Norwich University's rifle program has been marked by considerable achievements, not only at the state-of-the-art Baroffio's Rifle Range but also through their competitive endeavors prior to its establishment.  A landmark moment in the program’s history was when the University had the honor of hosting the 1999 NCAA Men's and Women's Rifle National Championship, a testament to the program's excellence and reputation in the collegiate shooting sports arena.

Norwich University stands out in the world of collegiate sports as just the fourth NCAA Division III institution to formally include a varsity rifle program.  This inclusion expands the landscape of varsity rifle programs to a total of 30 across all NCAA divisions, highlighting the growing prominence and recognition of rifle competitions in collegiate sports.  The establishment and sustained success of the rifle program at Norwich University, underpinned by the world-class facilities at Baroffio's Rifle Range, underscore the institution's commitment to fostering excellence in shooting sports among its student-athletes.
