WESTWOOD, Mass. - Norwich University's junior quarterback Matt Dunn (Rockland, Mass.) was named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Co-Offensive Player of the Week in a release by the conference on Monday afternoon.
This week's selection was the second of the year for Dunn who also took home the honors in Week 2. He becomes the only Cadet to have twice received the same weekly NEWMAC award.
In just over two quarters of action, Dunn threw for 395 yards while completing 20-of-25 passes (80.0%) including four for touchdowns in the Cadets' 51-10 victory over Maine Maritime on Saturday. Three of his four touchdown passes came on plays that went for more than 40 yards. In the second quarter, Dunn orchestrated four-straight touchdown drives to help Norwich build a 44-3 lead at halftime. It was the fifth time the junior QB has passed for over 300 yards in a game this season.
Dunn's prolific season has vaulted him into the record books of Norwich's storied football program. His 423 total yards of offense on Saturday tied his own record for the all-time best. His efficiency also helped Norwich post a new all-time record for most passing yards in a single game with 430.
Individually, Dunn currently ranks 1st all-time with a .556 completion percentage, is 2nd in completions (299) and passing yards (4,172), and 4th in passing attempts (538) and passing touchdowns (29).
Norwich travels to Catholic this coming Saturday in search of its sixth win of the season. The Cadets have split the two games in the all-time series which included last year's 31-0 victory.
