Cadets Place Sixth At WNEC Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Maura Kee and Jaclyn McElligott placed seventh and 12th, respectively, to lead the Norwich women's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the WNEC Invitational on Saturday. The Cadets racked up 153 points to place smack dab in the middle of the 12-team field.

Kee was the first NU harrier to cross the finish line, taking seventh overall with a clocking of 21:05. McElligott followed closely behind, as she toured the 5,000-meter course in a time of 21:40 to place 12th overall.

Anne Vayda (22:59), Heather Flavell (24:28) and Scarlette Grassetti (24:37) rounded out Norwich's Top 5, placing 31st, 57th and 62nd, respectively.

Clark won the team title with 57 points. WPI (81 points), Castleton State (94), WNEC (116) and Endicott (117) rounded out the Top 5.

NU returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 27, when the team travels to Standish, Maine, to participate in the GNAC Championships.
