Wrestling: Norwich Places Seventh At All-Academy Championships
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Norwich University wrestling team placed seventh at the 16th annual All-Academy Championships on Saturday. The Cadets registered half a point to finish last in the seven-team field.
Freshman Joey Eon went 1-2 at 149 pounds, defeating Coast Guard's Curtis Hayes in the first round of the wrestlebacks. Eon was the only Norwich wrestler to win a bout at the event.
Navy had six individual champions and four runners-up to win the team title with 123.5 points. Air Force, which produced two individual champions, placed second with 74.5 points, while The Citadel finished third (70.0 points). Merchant Marine (51.0), VMI (47.5), Coast Guard (10.0) and Norwich (0.5) rounded out the team standings.
Norwich will return to action Feb. 20-21, when the Cadets travel to Springfield, Mass., to take part in the New England Championships.
