NORTHFIELD, Vt.—Twelve different players scored for the Norwich University women's lacrosse team, who used the complete-team effort to down the Falcons of Albertus Magnus College 20-1 on Saturday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.
With the win, the Cadets improve to 4-1 overall and in the GNAC, while the loss drops the Falcons to 0-7 overall.
Norwich was led by sophomore Larissa Gokey (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) with three goals and three assists. Freshmen Chapel Guarnieri (Pepperell, Mass.) and Holly Lutz (Hamburg, N.J.) both netted three goals each, while freshmen Kirstin Lortie (Winchendon, Mass.) and Erin Gats (Livermore, Maine) both scored their first collegiate goals.
The Falcons' lone goal was scored by Halle Altieri (Guilford, Conn.).
Norwich goaltender Rebecca Horgan (Topsfield, Mass.) recorded four saves in the first half before giving way to freshman Courtney Hudson (Burke, Va.), who also tallied four saves. Albertus Magnus netminder Erika Blechert (Durham, Conn.) recorded 15 saves in the complete-game effort. Norwich held a 44-10 advantage in shots over the course of the game.
Falcons senior midfielder Kesley Proctor (Guilford, Conn.) won a game-high four draw controls on the afternoon, while Norwich's Meaghan Albert (Lanesborough, Mass.) led the Cadets with three.
Blechert finished with a team-best five ground balls for the Falcons, while junior Emma Smith (Patterson, N.Y.) scooped up a team-high four ground balls for the Cadets. Smith and sophomore Caroline Manning (Duxbury, Mass.) both recorded three caused turnovers for Norwich.
The Cadets will be back in action tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. when they host Rivier University for a league game at Sabine Field.
