Women’s Hockey: Conway nabs NEHC Player of the Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore forward Amanda Conway (Methuen, Mass.) of the Norwich University women's ice hockey team was named the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday afternoon. 

Conway had two goals and four assists in two games vs. Trinity and Plattsburgh State on the week. She had a career-high five-point game in a 7-1 win over Trinity on Wednesday, scoring a goal and notching four assists. 

Conway also added a goal in Sunday's 3-2 loss to Plattsburgh State, which started the Cadets' comeback attempt after trailing 3-0. 

Conway leads Norwich with 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points. She ranks tied for second nationally with 26 points, trailing only Plattsburgh State's Melissa Sheeran, who has 27. 

Conway also earned NEHC Player of the Week honors on Oct. 30 for her efforts in the Bulldog Bowl in Adrian, Mich. 

Norwich has had the NEHC Player of the Week winner five times so far this season. 

The Cadets are ranked No. 2 in the latest d3hockey.com national poll released on Tuesday. NU also checks in at No. 3 in the USCHO.com ranking that was released during the East-West Hockey Classic on Monday. 

Norwich (12-1-1, 6-0-0 NEHC) is off this weekend before a busy week next week featuring three games starting with New England on Monday, Jan. 15 at 4 p.m. The Cadets then host Endicott in the first-ever meeting between the two schools on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m. NU then travels to Elmira College on Saturday for a big 3 p.m. showdown with the Soaring Eagles.
