Women's Basketball - 2011-12 Cadets recognized
NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Norwich University head coach Mark Zacher and his staff honored the 2011-12 Cadets' squad at the program's end-of-the-year banquet April 15.
Sophomore guard Kristin Brown (Williamstown, Vt.) was tabbed the Coaches and Genius award winner. Sophomore forward Erin Clark (Newbury, Vt.) was named the Most Improved Player, and junior forward Jessalyn Sweeney (Stanfordville, N.Y.) earned Best Defensive Player honors.
Certificates were presented to freshman guard Aliah Curry (Windsor, Conn.) for being named three times as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week and to senior forward Jocelyn Fasulo (Contoocook, N.H.) for earning GNAC Player of the Week honors once. Certificates were also presented to Brown for the 2012 GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team and to Curry for being named 2012 GNAC Second-Team All-Conference.
Team members individually presented each other with special awards that they designed. Names were drawn, and each player was tasked with giving an award to the teammate that they drew. Letters, pins, and watches were also awarded to team members based upon their standing within the program.
Finally, as is team tradition, special plaques were awarded to seniors Fasulo, Kelsey Knapp (Brandon, Vt.), and Tara Stevenson (Watertown, Conn.) that are designed to hold a piece of basketball net. Following the banquet, the team assembled in Andrews Hall for the seniors to cut down the last net of their Norwich career to be preserved on this special plaque.
