Men's Cross Country: Cadets Place Third At Vermont State Meet
JOHNSON, Vt. - Senior team co-captain John Pomeroy finished 10th overall to help lead the Norwich University men's cross country team to a third-place showing at the Vermont State Meet on Saturday morning. NU racked up 100 points to finish within the top half of the eight-team field.
Pomeroy, who was the first NU harrier to cross the finish line, toured the 8,000-meter course in a time of 28 minutes, 53.7 seconds. Junior team co-captain Michael Monaghan was the second Cadet to finish the race, placing 16th overall with a clocking of 29:34.8.
Freshmen Joseph Rosenthal (29:45.2) and Richard Well (30:02.5) finished 19th and 23rd, respectively. Junior Michael Christopher rounded out Norwich's Top 5, placing 32nd overall with a clocking of 31:12.2.
Middlebury (17 points) ran away with the team title as four Panthers placed in the overall Top 5. Vermont (48 points) finished runner-up, while Norwich took third.
Norwich returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 10, when the Cadets travel to Westfield, Mass., to participate in the James Earley Invitational.
