Men's Cross Country: Cadets Win Rivier Invitational

NASHUA, N.H. - Freshman Joseph Rosenthal placed first, and five Cadets finished in the Top 10 to help the Norwich University men's cross country win the Rivier Invitational Friday afternoon. The Cadets accumulated just 23 points to blow away the seven-team field.

It marked the first career individual win for Rosenthal, who clocked a time of 27 minutes, 20 seconds. Senior team co-captain John Pomeroy was the second Cadet to cross the finish line, touring the 8,000-meter course in a time of 27:42 to place third overall.

Junior team co-captain Michael Monaghan was the next NU harrier to finish the race, placing fourth overall with a clocking of 27:58. Junior Michael Christopher (28:28) and freshman Richard Well (28:43) rounded out Norwich's Top 5, placing sixth and ninth, respectively.

Lasell (57 points) finished a distant runner-up, while St. Joseph's (Maine) (104), Emerson (112) and New Hampshire Institute of Technology (119) rounded out the Top 5.

Norwich returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 3, when the Cadets travel to Johnson, Vt., to compete at the Vermont State Meet.
