Men’s Tennis: Grindle nabs second straight GNAC Rookie of the Week honor
BOSTON – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced on Monday night that Norwich University men's tennis freshman Ryan Grindle was tabbed the Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Grindle (Essex Junction, Vt.) went a combined 3-1 on the week to help keep the Cadets perfect so far in the 2012 season with two victories over Johnson & Wales and Castleton State.
He remained unbeaten at third singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Castleton's Chris Belanger on Wednesday and then downed Johnson & Wales' Ian Huxel 7-5, 6-1 on Sunday. Grindle is now 5-0 on the year in singles action and 4-1 in doubles.
Grindle has not lost a singles match in over two years as he is coming off an unbeaten senior season at Essex High School and leading them to the state championship last spring.
