Men’s Swimming and Diving: Norwich earns team award at NEISDAs

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. – Norwich University was named the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association's men's team sportsmanship award winner at the conclusion of the 2012 meet Feb. 19.

The honor, named after long-time NU men's coach Steve Looke, has been given out in each of the last four years with Norwich being the recipient in every case.

"I'm really proud of how they handle themselves," Coach Laura Dunn said of her 2011-12 squad. "They always wish good luck to their competitors… at times shaking hands before and after races. They really care about the people around them."

The Cadets closed their 2011-12 season with a fourth-place team finish at the championships, registering 389 points. Freshman Lance Webster (Windham, Me.) highlighted the weekend by winning the 1650 freestyle, NU's first individual men's event title at NEISDA since 2010.
