Bob Weggler has been involved with the game of rugby for more than 30 years. Weggler has 23 years of collegiate coaching experience, including stints at Cornell University, Amherst College, Colby College and now Norwich University, where he began in fall 2001. This past year Norwich University celebrated its 40 years of rugby. The fall was highlighted by the Cadets second place finish in the NERFU Div. II Men’s Collegiate Rugby League. Its other accomplishments were acquiring the second seed in the Northeast Rugby Union and a 13th national ranking before the playoffs began. At the first round they lost to William Patterson in a thriller 16-15. In the spring of 2011 the Cadets traveled to Ireland for their 40th Anniversary Rugby Tour. The Ireland trip included international coaching sessions, three matches, and a tour of Ireland’s new national pitch in Dublin, Aviva Stadium.
Coaching Career Highlights
In the spring of Coach Weggler's inaugural year at Norwich, the men's team was victorious against the University of Texas in an invitational tournament hosted by the University of California-Berkeley. That fall, Norwich captured the New England Rugby Football Union Collegiate Division I Green League Crown.
