NORTHFIELD, Vt. - On a soggy homecoming afternoon the Cadets of Norwich battled Holy Cross to a 28-28 tie. Norwich began the scoring on a penalty kick from junior flyhalf Chris Hein. Soon afterward Holy Cross knotted the score 3-3 on a penalty kick. Norwich finished out the half with fourteen unanswered points. Norwich added to their lead at the sixty minute mark by senior captain flanker Josh Nowak who dashed down the left touchline for the try, Norwich 25- Holy cross 13. Holy Cross came right back with a unconverted try, Norwich 25- Holy Cross 18. Near the seventy minute mark Hein kicked his third penalty of the day to bring the score to, Norwich 28- Holy Cross 18. In the match Hein booted for thirteen points. The second consecutive week the Cadets could not hold on to their lead. Holy Cross tied the match with two unconverted tries in the closing minutes. The final: Norwich 28 Holy Cross 28.

"You got to give Holy Cross credit, they were determined, and played support rugby to finish," Weggler said. "Undisciplined play and a high penalty count, particularly in the second half, stopped us from coming away with the victory. We scored some exciting tries from fine effort but we once again did not play composed rugby necessary for success. Lessons need to be evaluated and learned."

The Cadets travel on Sunday Oct 9 to play UVM. Kickoff in Burlington is at 1pm.
