Men's Rugby: Norwich And Brown Play To 0-0 Draw

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Norwich hosted Brown University in its final preseason match on Saturday, Sept. 6, and the two sides battled to a 0-0 draw.

Shortly after the opening kickoff, it looked as though the Cadets would get on the board early from their own five-meter scrum. Unfortunately Norwich was penalized for hands in the scrum.

Both teams struggled to gain continuity in their attack throughout the contest, but their defenses battled strong. Brown had opportunities in both halves to convert penalty kicks, but missed.

Norwich has held its last two opponents (Middlebury and Brown) scoreless over the last 119 minutes of play.

"Defense has been our focus from the beginning of preseason," said NU head coach Bob Weggler. "The attack will develop over time as our players gain experience through practice and match play."

Norwich will kick off its regular season on Saturday, Sept 13, when the Cadets travel to Boston to take on Northeastern University.
