Men's Lacrosse: Castleton State Dumps Norwich, 20-4
FORT ANN, N.Y. - Michael Martinez scored five goals, and Tyson Chouinard netted four to lead Castleton State to an easy 20-4 victory over Norwich in men's lacrosse action Thursday evening at the Golden Goal Tournament Park in Fort Ann, N.Y.
The Spartans (4-4) jumped out to a 6-1 lead at the end of the first period, and led 10-2 at halftime en route to the victory.
Castleton State controlled play for much of the game en route to a 45-21 advantage in shots, a 53-37 advantage in ground balls and a 21-7 advantage in face-offs won.
John Lighthall scored two goals and added one assist to lead the way for Norwich (0-4). Kyle Marzeoti chipped in one goal and one assist, while Craig Van Yahres also scored once for NU. Kevin Young contributed one assist to round out the Cadets scoring.
Nick Bakos played the entire first half in goal for Norwich and made eight saves. Nathan Huckins came in and played the entire second half, making four stops.
After being shutout in its season opener, Norwich has scored four goals in each of its last three games.
Norwich resumes its 2008 spring schedule on Saturday, April 5, when the Cadets are scheduled to host Pilgrim League rival Babson at 1 p.m.
