Football: Sabourin, Ding Earn Player Of The Week Honors

 

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Two members of the Norwich football team were awarded player of the week honors by the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference it was announced on Monday.

Sophomore quarterback Kris Sabourin was named the offensive player of the week after completing 10 of 15 passes for two touchdowns and 141 yards. He also gained 82 rushing yards and scored one touchdown on the ground, leading the Cadets to a 42-27 win over Hartwick on Saturday. Sabourin has nine touchdowns on the season with eight coming through the air and 507 yards passing.

Junior kicker Long Ding was named the special teams player of the week after going six for six on extra points in the Cadets' victory. Ding is 12 for 13 on extra points this season.

The Cadets are currently undefeated in non-conference action, holding a 3-0 record for their 2010 season schedule. The victory over Hartwick represented their 11th straight win, a new school record for consecutive wins dating back to last season.

Norwich will look to extend its winning streak on Saturday, as the Cadets travel to Mount Ida College for their first league game. Kick off will be at 1 p.m.
