Football: Orwin Etkins Tabbed ECFC "Rookie Of The Year"

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Norwich University freshman RB Orwin Etkins was named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference's "Rookie of the Week" after racking up 209 yards of total offense and scoring three touchdowns in the Cadets' 48-0 victory over Anna Maria last Saturday.

Etkikns ran for 149 yards on 13 carries and scored a pair of rushing touchdowns. It marked his first career 100-yard rushing game. He also scored on a 60-yard screen pass.

For the season, the Miramar, Fla., native leads the Cadets with seven rushing touchdowns and eight total touchdowns. He is averaging nearly 50 rushing yards per game.

Norwich (5-3, 4-0 ECFC) returns to action on Saturday,Oct. 31, when the Cadets host New York Maritime in a pivotal league contest. The winner of the conference showdown will have the inside track on the regular season title. Kickoff from Norwich's Sabine Field is set for 1:30 p.m. Admission to the game is FREE, and everyone attending is encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the Vermont Food Bank.
