Baseball: Norwich’s Shimkus national leader
NORTHFIELD, VT. – Junior infielder/outfielder Dustin Shimkus (Collinsville, Ill.) helped highlight the 2012 Norwich University baseball campaign with the release of the final NCAA Division III statistics June 7.
Shimkus, an all-Great Northeast Athletic Conference selection, led the nation in doubles per game with an average of 0.59. He wound up three one-hundredths ahead of Bridgewater State's Sean Riley for the top spot.
The Maroon and Gold standout also ranked high for total doubles. His 20 two-baggers were 10th best.
