Cotnoir, Fortier earn academic honor

NORTHFIELD, VT. – Norwich University had one male and one female student-athlete named to the 2012 Capital One/CoSida academic All-District 1 at-large squad, released May 17.

Coach Mike McShane’s men’s hockey program was honored with junior forward Pier-Olivier Cotnoir’s (Rouyn-Noranda, Que.) selection. Coach Mark Bolding’s women’s hockey program had senior forward Julie Fortier (Saint-Malachie, Que.) selected.

Cotnoir adds the award to first team all-ECAC East, ECAC East all-academic, New England Hockey Writer’s Association Division II-III all-star and CCM Old Time Hockey All-American accolades. Fortier’s honor is part of a long list, too, which includes being named the Laura Hurd award winner as NCAA Division III’s Player of the Year, a CCM Old Time Hockey and East Region All-American, the New England Hockey Writer’s Association’s Division II-III Player of the Year, ECAC East all-academic and all-ECAC East first team and Player of the Year honors.

Cotnoir and Fortier both move on to their respective national ballots for academic All-American consideration.
